STATEMENT OF FACTS
The applicants, Ms Radmila Špoljar and Ms Svjetlana Špoljar , are Croatian nationals, who were born in 1959 and 1981 respectively and live in Blinjski Kut . They are represented before the Court by Mr L. Šušak , a lawyer practising in Zagreb .
The circumstances of the case
The facts of the case, as submitted by the applicants, may be summarised as follows.
On 22 September 1991 the applicants ’ respective husband and father, M. Å ., was abducted in the village Blinjski Kut , in the Sisak area, allegedly by Croatian soldiers, and killed on 23 September 1991.
An investigation was opened and is still pending.
COMPLAINT
The applicants complain under the procedural aspect of Article 2 that the investigation into the death of their relative was not effective .
QUESTION TO THE PARTIES
Having regard to the procedural protection of the right to life (see paragraph 104 of Salman v. Turkey [GC], no. 21986/93, ECHR 2000-VII), was the investigation in the present case by the domestic authorities in breach of Article 2 of the Convention?
