FIRST SECTION

Application no. 55957/22 Boštjan Marko TURK against Slovenia lodged on 1 December 2022 communicated on 26 January 2023

SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE

The application concerns the length of civil defamation proceedings instituted against the applicant on an unspecified date in 2014. The Ljubljana Local Court delivered its judgment on 7 April 2017. The applicant lodged an appeal and a request for leave to appeal on points of law. The latter was dismissed on 11 October 2018. On 5 December 2018 the applicant lodged a constitutional complaint. On 1 August 2022 the Constitutional Court decided not to accept it for consideration. This decision was served on the applicant on 5 August 2022.

The applicant complains under Article 6 § 1 about the length of the proceedings before the Constitutional Court.

QUESTION TO THE PARTIES

Was the length of the proceedings before the Constitutional Court in the present case in breach of the “reasonable time” requirement of Article 6 § 1 of the Convention?
