SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE

The application concerns the applicant’s involuntary placement in a clinical infectious diseases hospital because she was diagnosed with Coronavirus infection. The placement was ordered on 15 May 2020 by the Leningradskiy District Court of Kaliningrad at the request of the Kaliningrad Region Department of the Federal Consumer Protection Service. The applicant stayed at the hospital from 18 until 22 May 2020.

Has the applicant’s involuntary hospitalisation in the period between 18 and 22 May 2020 been lawful within the meaning of Article 5 § 1 (e) of the Convention?
