Under various circumstances and at different times the applicants were detained on criminal charges and placed in one of the remand prisons of the Astrakhan Region pending trial . The relevant details of each case, as described by the applicants, appear below.

5COMPLAINT S
All the applicants complain ed under Article 3 of the Convention about the conditions of their detention in remand prisons, in particular, about overpopulated cells . Under the other Articles of the Convention they also raised various issues related to their criminal proceedings.
QUESTIONS TO THE PARTIES
W ere the conditions of each applicant ’ s detention compatible with Article 3 of the Convention? If the Government consider that the occupancy numbers given by the applicants were inaccurate, they are invited to produce extracts from the prison population register covering at least one day per week during the entire period of the applicant ’ s detention.
