SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE
The applicant is a Turkish national who was born in 1964 and lives in Istanbul. At the time of the events giving rise to the application, the applicant was the editor-in-chief of a periodical entitled “ Call for the New World” , ( “ Yeni Dünya İçin Çağrı ”). The application concerns the criminal proceedings brought against the applicant for disseminating propaganda in favour of the PKK, an illegal armed organisation under section 7 § 2 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Law no. 3713), on account of an article entitled “Kurdish Question, Search for a Solution and Our Duties” (“ Kürt Sorunu, Çözüm Arayışları ve Görevlerimiz ”), published in the issue of January 2007 of the periodical. The applicant was convicted and sentenced to a total of one year and three months of imprisonment.
The applicant relies on Article 10 of the Convention.

Has there been a violation of the applicant ’ s right to freedom of expression, contrary to Article 10 of the Convention, on account of his conviction under section 7 § 2 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act?
