FOURTH SECTION
Application no. 57574/14 Ranko MILOSAVLJEVIĆ against Serbia lodged on 6 August 2014
SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE
The applicant, a journalist and an editor-in-chief of a local Serbian weekly magazine, complains under Article 10 of the Convention of a breach of his freedom of expression. Specifically, the applicant maintains: ( i ) that the printed article in question raised serious issues to do with the alleged sexual abuse of an underaged Romani girl; and (ii) that he ultimately ended up being punished for the article ’ s publication by losing a civil defamation case, having his views characterised as libellous and being ordered to pay compensation plus costs to the plaintiff.
QUESTION TO THE PARTIES
Has there been a violation of the applicant ’ s right to freedom of expression, in particular his right to impart information and ideas, contrary to Article 10 of the Convention?
