FOURTH SECTION

Application no. 70863/17 Mihály Balázs GULYÁS against Hungary lodged on 21 September 2017

SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE

The application concerns the leaking of sensitive information (criminal conviction for traffic offence) about the applicant, a political activist, to the press. The investigation into his ensuing criminal complaint was to no avail, the Budapest Chief Public Prosecutor ’ s Office notably pointing out that the leak complained of did not represent a “grave lesion of interest” for the applicant.

QUESTION TO THE PARTIES

Has there been a violation of the applicant ’ s right to respect for his private life, contrary to Article 8 of the Convention, also taking into account the State ’ s positive obligations in this field (see White v. Sweden , no. 42435/02, § 20, 19 September 2006)?
