SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE

The applications concern proceedings for judicial review of the applicants ’ pre-trial detention ordered on suspicion of robbery and attempted murder. The domestic courts extended the applicants ’ pre-trial detention without giving them the possibility to reply to the investigating judges ’ written observations and without hearing the applicants or their representative.

QUESTION TO THE PARTIES

Having regard to the Court ’ s case law (see Nikolova v. Bulgaria [GC], no. 31195/96, 25 March 1999, and Idalov v. Russia [GC], no. 5826/03, 22 May 2012) were the reviews of the applicants ’ pre-trial detention by the Supreme Court (decision of 24 December 2009) and the Novi Sad Court of Appeal (14 January, 13 April and 27 April 2010 ) in conformity with Article 5 § 4 of the Convention?
