Length of criminal proceedings: violation

The case concerns the length of criminal proceedings brought against the applicant. The proceedings began in March 1994 and are still pending before the court of appeal. They have therefore last ed around five and a half years, including five years and almost two months before the first instance court.

Conclusion : violation (unanimous).

Article 41: The Court awarded the applicant 35,000 francs (FRF) in respect of non-pecuniary damage and 15,000 fr ancs in respect of costs and expenses.
