Length of criminal proceedings: friendly settlement

The case concerns the length of criminal proceedings brought against the applicant in November 1989. He was acquitted in July 1994 and the acquittal was confirmed on appeal in February 199 7. The parties have reached a friendly settlement providing for payment to the applicant of the sum of 40,000 francs (FRF), covering all heads of damage.
