Prison conditions: friendly settlement

The case concerns the conditions of the applicant's detention in Lepoglava State Prison. He complained about, inter alia , overcrowding, poor food and hygiene and lack of activities. He was transferred to a n ewly renovated wing in June 2002.

The parties have reached a friendly settlement providing for payment of compensation of 12,000 € to the applicant and an undertaking by the Government to renovate the wing in which he was held by the end of September 2003.
