Application no. 41643/19 Mohamed Hassan ABDI against Denmark lodged on 30 July 2019

SUBJECT MATTER OF THE CASE

The applicant is a Somali national, born in 1993, who entered Denmark when he was four years old. He has a criminal past. By a judgment, which became final on 31 January 2019, the applicant was convicted, notably, of being in possession of an armed gun at a public place. He was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months ’ imprisonment, and expelled from Denmark with a life-long ban on returning.

The applicant complained that the order expelling him from Denmark was in breach of Article 8 of the Convention.

Q UESTION TO THE PARTIES

Having regard , in particular, to the length of the applicant ’ s stay in Denmark as well as the nature of his ties with his country of origin, would the implementation of the order to expel the applicant from Denmark be in breach of Article 8 of the Convention?
